PROGRAM DIRECTORS - Backgrounds

The program will be led by Jon Davis, a former professional player who has helped develop some of the best players to come out of the region and country in the past several years.  Davis is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA.  His speciality lies in developing more explosive athletes.  His unique approach to training allowed him to regularly eclipse the 90 mph mark with his fastball at only 5’9”.  In addition Davis routinely had pitch counts in the 120 plus range while throwing close to 250 innings over his 4 yr High School career.  His arm and health was never an issue and a large part of that was due to his unique and rigorous training program.

You can see from numerous clippings below that Jon practiced what he preaches and his career was a testament to his work ethic and unique training methods.  His sole focus now is on the players he trains and helping them get the most out of THEIR unique talent with his proven methods.

Current head of Northeast Scouting for the Los Angeles Angels and former Major Leaguer Nick Gorneault will play a vital role in evaluating each players strengths and weaknesses.  Nick is one of the most accomplished players to ever come out of Western Massachusetts.  His baseball knowledge and experience is nearly unrivaled in the area. In 2014 he was named the Los Angeles Angles scout of the year.

*  One of only a handful of Western Massachusetts players from the last 25 years to make play at the Major League level - Los Angeles Angels

*  Recorded over 100 homeruns and 1,000 hits in the minor leagues

*  Former Director of Northeast Scouting for the Los Angeles Angels.   Current Director of the Mid Atlantic Region for the Angels.

*  Nick was a minor league All-star and accumulated a number of awards for his outstanding play.

*  In 2005 Nick hit just under .300 to go with 26 homeruns and 108 RBI's at the AAA level.

*  Nick played behind Major League All-Stars Vladimir Guerrero, Chone Figgins, Garret Anderson, Darin Erstad, Jim Edmonds, Tim Salmon,    and Bobby      Abreau - One of the best outfields in MLB history.

Nick is one of the most respected baseball minds in the country.  His eye for talent and being able to help players get to the next level is truly unique.  We are extremely excited to be able to draw from his knowledge base and connections to help players get the most out of their training this winter.

Chuck Jasak, current scout for the Baltimore Orioles, will be on board to handle the video analysis of players as well assist with the training.  Chuck has done a great job over the past few years helping players make physical and mental adjustments needed in record time.   He is in his third year as the coach of the Baystate Games Team (West).  In his second season (2013) Coach Jasak helped team West capture the Gold Medal.  He is a popular instructor at Powerhouse where he is routinely overbooked for lessons during the winter months.  Coach Jasak regularly attends conferences and clinics from the top names in the field during his continuing education so that he can continue to present the most up to date information to his clients.  In 2015, Jasak saw one of his first prospects get drafted in Seamus Curran.

Coach Jasak’s outgoing personality and dedication and commitment to the game of baseball are obvious watching any of his lessons.  He works as a teacher full time and his ability to relate to players and assist them in making improvements where others fail are one of his greatest strengths!

PROGRAM DETAILS

Each player will be tested out on a variety of athletic/performance measurements to assess their current level and to figure out which areas need to be focused on.

Testing includes:

Flexibility/mobility, movement efficiency, Broad Jump, 10 yd sprint, 10-20 yd split time, 20 yd sprint, agility, muscle imbalances, lower body strength, upper body strength, rotator cuff strength, bat speed, throwing velocity.

After the conclusion of testing each player will receive a full record of their testing with notes on what they need to work on.

From there each athlete will receive a customized program to address their personal needs.

Group Performance Training:

Each player will have the ability to train in our customized group environment 2 - 3 x per week.  This allows players to be evaluated by a coach each and every session while they work on their individualized program.

Video Analysis:

Each player will have a swing and throwing analysis conducted through video.  This will be broken down with each player present so they can personally see what areas need improvement.

Written Evaluation:

A written evaluation will be provided to each player detailing the areas that need to be improved in order to reach the next level.

Lessons:

Each player will have 2 group lessons per month for their focus area (pitching or hitting).  The lessons will serve as reinforcement for the video analysis and written evaluations.  It will also be a time for the instructors to provide drills and information that will be instrumental in making corrections to problem areas.

Cage Times/Turf Time:

Players will have 2 available times each week for open cage time.  Additionally they will have 1 time per week for open turf time (40 yds in length) to conduct long toss and or extra throwing.  This will be a time for the players to work on the drills/instruction provided from their monthly lessons.

Extras:

When not in use players will be able to use the t-room at any point in order to get extra reps in through swinging or throwing to a net.  Each player will also have access to the “Fast Bat” and “Velocity Development Programs” which have proven to be EXTREMELY popular and effective over the past few years.  Several players have added 20 mph or more to their bat speed with two players reaching 100 mph.  A mark most Major Leaguers do not reach!

That’s about 1/5th the price you would pay for everything separately.   If you were to add up everything individually it would cost over $6,000!  This is A HUGE DEAL for motivated players.  Last year EVERY SINGLE player involved in the program signed to play college baseball.   For 2 consecutive years we have had 2 high school position players go in the top 10 rounds of the draft.  Each made substantial gains in their draft status after training through the winter.   You will not find a more complete program anywhere.  We have consistently put up results with our athletes for the past 10 years and our prices will compete with anything else out there considering  all that you get when you train at Powerhouse!

*This program is for motivated individuals.  If you aren’t going to come in to use the cage/turf time or train 100% then this program is not for you.  We provide the knowledge and template and the player provides the work.  Any player who shows up and dedicates themselves to the program will get results.  We have a money back guarantee for players who show up to 90% of our sessions.  The workout is not for the faint of heart.  We will have serious players involved and are looking for players who fit that mold.  For players who need more individualized coaching and training we have other options that will fit them better.

Any questions, please contact Jon Davis.

We are excited that Raul Diaz will be joining the program to offer top notch instruction for hitting and fielding.  Through Raul’s instruction and mental preparation his son Isan was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Isan was the highest drafted high school position player to come out of Western Massachusetts.  Raul is a truly gifted instructor who has become so popular that his schedule is typically filled through the winter.

Earned Division 1 Scholarship

University of Albany

Training at Powerhouse with Jon Davis last off-season was the best decision I could have made.  I added 20 lbs and 5 mph to my fastball.  I gained substantial division 1 interest, including from D1 schools in the south.  Ultimately, I received a scholarship from University of Albany.  Jon’s unique training methods and programs produce results.  I would recommend him to any serious player looking to play at the next level.

For anyone looking to make the jump to the next level, you could not be in better hands.  Jon is the reason for the successes I had in High School and College.  I am a complete pitcher after working with him and would not be getting any professional looks without his help along the way.
